Mookuthi Amman 2 Cast and Their Roles
Nayanthara leads the film, but the supporting cast is another reason to watch out for this sequel. The makers have brought together actors with experience in comedy, drama, and action.
Nayanthara
Nayanthara returns as Mookuthi Amman, also known as Mahasakthi. She also plays a police officer in the present-day portion of the story.
The two appearances are quite different. Her police officer character is shown as timid and easily frightened, while the goddess has the power to confront the mythical enemies. This contrast is one of the main details revealed in the trailer.
Regina Cassandra
Regina Cassandra plays the principal antagonist. Her character is associated with the mythical forces threatening innocent people. The trailer gives her a prominent place in the film’s conflict, although the makers have not revealed every detail about her character.

Duniya Vijay joins the cast as another major antagonist. He appears alongside Regina Cassandra as one of the mythical villains who come to Earth.

What Is the Story of Mookuthi Amman 2?
The sequel tells a new story involving an ancient kingdom and a modern-day crisis. The first teaser opens in a period setting, where a kingdom faces an attack from powerful enemies. The story then shifts to the present, where an unexplained calamity affects ordinary people. The people turn to Mahasakthi for help, bringing Nayanthara’s divine character into the conflict.
The trailer reveals more about the present-day characters. Nayanthara plays a police officer who is frightened by even ordinary situations, including sleeping alone. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she becomes involved in a battle against mythical enemies played by Regina Cassandra and Duniya Vijay.
The villains threaten innocent people, including children. As the situation becomes more dangerous, Mookuthi Amman is invoked to confront them.
This gives the film two contrasting sides: the everyday life of a frightened police officer and the divine power of Mahasakthi. How these two appearances connect is one of the main questions surrounding the story. The sequel also takes a different approach from the original. Rather than focusing on a journalist exposing fraudulent religious practices, the new film centres on a larger mythological conflict.
Mookuthi Amman 2 Teaser and Trailer
The makers have released a teaser and an official trailer, giving audiences a look at the film’s setting, characters, and storyline.
Official Teaser
The Mookuthi Amman 2 – Maha Sakthi teaser was released on September 14, 2026, on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaturthi.
It begins with an ancient kingdom facing an invasion. The visuals then move to the present, where people are dealing with an unexplained calamity. The teaser introduces the connection between these two periods and ends with a glimpse of Nayanthara as Mahasakthi.
Rather than explaining the entire plot, the first promotional video focuses on establishing the mythological setting and introducing the goddess.
Official Trailer
The official trailer arrived on October 21, 2026. It offers more information about the characters than the teaser.
One of its main highlights is Nayanthara’s appearance as a timid police officer. The trailer also shows her divine form as Mookuthi Amman, making the difference between the two roles clear.
Regina Cassandra and Duniya Vijay are introduced as the main mythical villains. The trailer also shows the danger facing innocent people and gives glimpses of the action sequences.
Who is Directing Mookuthi Amman 2?
Sundar C has directed Mookuthi Amman 2. This is a change from the first film, which was directed by RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan.
Sundar C has also worked on the sequel’s writing, alongside Venkatt Ragavan, who is credited with the screenplay and dialogues. The film is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Film International.
The technical team includes Hiphop Tamizha as music composer, Gopi Amarnath as cinematographer, and Fenny Oliver as editor. Rajasekar K is responsible for the stunt choreography. The film also features special appearances by Sneha and Khushbu Sundar. Their involvement adds a few more familiar faces to the cast.
Is Mookuthi Amman 2 a Direct Sequel to the First Film?
Mookuthi Amman 2 continues the franchise but does not follow the original film’s storyline directly. It introduces a different set of characters and a new conflict.
The first film, released in 2020, starred Nayanthara as Mookuthi Amman and RJ Balaji as Engels Ramasamy, a television journalist. The story followed the journalist’s encounter with the goddess and his efforts to expose a fraudulent spiritual leader.
The second film takes a different route. It introduces an ancient kingdom, mythical villains, and a police officer who becomes involved in events connected to Mahasakthi.
Nayanthara is the familiar link between the two movies. However, Sundar C has taken over the direction, and the sequel has its own storyline.
You can watch the first film if you want to revisit the character, but you do not need to know its entire plot to understand the second instalment.
Mookuthi Amman 2 OTT Release Date
